Ocean-themed Christmas at Seaside

SM Seaside City Cebu’s tree-lighting ceremony for 2018 revealed a Christmas installation that went over and beyond the expectation of Cebuanos, stunning the audience with a surreal theme: “Under the Sea” and involving a Technicolor flurry of activities before the iridescent lighting.

Opening the program was an angelic chorus from the University of Cebu Choir, all donned in royal purple, and singing heartwarming Christmas hits such as “Christmas Praise” and “GrownUp Christmas List.”

SM Seaside also did not fail to send a message about values to the audience during the main act, which was about a little girl who found a blue star and turtle that made her realize the importance of taking care of the ocean and respecting it as the home of other living creatures—something that is oftentimes overlooked today.

This performance involved acting and dance numbers that wowed the audience with their colorful sea creature costumes. An array of jellyfish, crabs, turtles, fish, water sprites, and so many more pranced about as the audience looked on with awe upon their faces.

Sometime toward the end of the program, the Christmas tree—all dolled up with largerthan-life corals, starfish, scales and sea-themed installations—lit up with a wave of lights magically crawling up its branches.

SM Seaside Cebu (the Mall Above All Else) really outdid itself this year, leaving us with a question boggling our minds: what will they do next? /
