Sinas to Palma: Police need most your prayers
Pray for us.
This was the message of Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Debold Sinas to Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, who officiated the second dawn mass on Monday, Dec. 17, at the St. Ignatius Chapel in Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr., the PRO 7 headquarters in Cebu City.
Sinas urged the prelate to ask forgiveness for the police officers. He also requested prayers from Palma so they will not wander off the path towards heaven.
“Kay lisod kaayo kon adto ta sa impiyerno, daghan og pulis didto. Didto lang mi sa langit kay gamay ra didto (It’s hard to be in hell, there are many cops there. We want to to be in heaven since there are only a few of us),” he said, drawing laughter from his personnel.
As Cebu’s archbishop in the past seven years, Palma celebrated the Misa de Gallo for the first time in a police camp.
Palma preached that families are not devoid of flaws and mistakes.
“We do not choose our family and seldom can you find a perfect family. We live in an imperfect world,” he said.
Palma’s homily centered on family as the gospel according to St. Matthew who tackled the family history of Jesus Christ.
After pointing out that Jesus’s family was also imperfect, Palma urged the police officers to love and guide a relative who has gone astray.
For Sinas, the archbishop’s officiating of the dawn mass boosted his personnel’s spirits.
