It was like a scene from a crime movie.

Four men riding separate motorcycles were killed when another group of men riding in two motorcycles fired at them afternoon of Friday, Feb. 22, in Barangay Danglag, Consolacion, Cebu.

One of those killed was a former policeman who had posted bail on the charge of possession of unlicensed firearm.

Jeremias Miñoza Herbieto, 52, was once assigned to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

He was driving a motorcycle with his wife as passenger and they were heading home in Barangay Cabangahan, Consolacion when attacked. The wife was unhurt.

Two other fatalities were identified as Adrian Cabunelas, 30, of Barangay Pulpogan 2, Consolacion; and Joel Cabardo, a resident of Davao City.

The fourth fatality was still unidentified at press time.

In their initial report, Consolacion police led by Chief Insp. Gerard Ace Pelayre said the four men were driving separate motorcycles and heading towards Barangay Garing.

Men on board two motorcycles suddenly appeared and rained bullets on them, then fled.

Pelayre said pending investigation, the assailants were most likely after Herbieto because of the circumstances surrounding the former policeman. /
