CONCEPT UPSIZE:

Bubble tea house serves milk tea soft serve besides drinks

-

The bubble tea craze in the country gets more intense with plenty more milk tea shops—from famous brands to small stalls—opening all over town. Bubble tea lovers around would gladly, and patiently, stand in line just to get their bubble tea fix.

Cebuano entrepreneurs Richelle King, Rae Legaspi and Eric Tan opened another bubble tea haven called Koala Tea. But this time, the store is offering something new to the table—soft serve milk tea. Imagine getting a spoonful of soft serve ice cream in milk tea flavor, with black tea as base, topped with popping boba pearls or crushed Oreo cookies, and cream cheese (for the ‘fearless,’ according to the owners), characterized by a distinct sweetness and texture.

This is definitely a new bubble tea experience that bubble tea lovers should try, inspired by Richelle’s discovery of this unconventional creation in one of her travels and Rae’s love for milk tea.

“Why not offer it here since we don’t have one yet?” the entrepreneurs thought. They did their research and experimented in coming up with the best product they can make and offer. “Eric was the one who perfected the soft serve recipe,” shared Richelle.

Besides the milk tea soft serve ice cream, Koala Tea, a cute and “pun-ny” term for “Qualitea” (quality tea), offers quality milk tea with 28 flavor combinations using ingredients sourced from Taiwan. To keep up with its brand name, Koala Tea serves its innovative products at a two-floor, zen-inspired shop that can accommodate up to 40 persons at SSY Business Center, Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City. Guests are welcome to bring their own board games, too!

Koala Tea is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 12 midnight every Friday to Sunday.
