BINISAYA films go to Cinema Rehiyon; biggest non-competition PH film festival joins industry in commemorating Centennial Year for Philippine Cinema

-

It’s a great year for Philippine Cinema as September 2019 to September 2020 has been declared a Centennial Year to commemorate 100 years of Filipino films. In line with this, the biggest non-competition film festival in the Philippines, Cinema Rehiyon, has decided to focus on “Elevating Regional Cinema” for its 11th year, and will be featuring short films and full-length features from Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.

Cinema Rehiyon 11 promises to be creatively conducive with its format of holding a Q&A with the directors after the film screenings, allowing the audience inspiring philosophical insight behind each moving picture. Also in this year’s program is the Pitching Lab, a producing, pitching and capability building lecture series, which was launched last year.

Cebu’s very own BINISAYA Movement will be sending the directors of seven short films and one full-length feature at Cinema Rehiyon 11. The short films being “Sa Pagsalop Sa Adlaw,” “Propesiya,” “The Last Question,” “Diskro,” “Drimsikol,” “Ka Gwapa Bah,” “Wala’y Humayan Sa Tanglad” and the full-length feature being “Miyerkules Miyerkules,” an installment from the sevenpart anthology “Adlaw-Adlaw” series soon to be available on Vimeo on Demand (VOD). Completing the list of delegates representing the BINISAYA Film Festival are Ron Gagamboy and Grace Marie Lopez, film festival directors of 2018 and 2019, respectively.

The 11th Cinema Rehiyon Film Festival will be held in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, from Feb. 25 to March 1 and is open to the public.
