Rider Omega Tri team dominates

The Cebu City Rider Omega Triathlon Team continue to dominate the Team Challenge competitio­n as they completed a four-peat in the My Daily Collagen in Subic Bay on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The team garnered the fastest average time in the age-group competitio­n to win its fourth title in the Team Challenge of the event formerly known as Bike King Triathlon.

Leading the charge for the team was elite and Ironman 70.3 Asian Elite champion Banjo Norte, who placed second overall in the men’s 25 to 29 age group. Norte also had the best bike time split.

Junior triathlete Karen Manayon of Talisay City bagged the overall title in the women’s side. Manayon also had the female best bike time split in the standard distance race, which covered a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40K bike and a 1.5K run.

Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez made her presence felt after winning the crown in the women’s 25 to 29 class.

Stephanie Castañeda finished second in the women’s 30 to 34 category.

Maria Victoria Tan crossed the finish at second place in 45 to 49 class.

The podium finishers in the men’s division were Jorry Ycong (second place, 25 to 29), Jonathan Pagura (third place, 18 to 24) and Michael Acas (third place, 30 to 34).

Meanwhile, Marielle Estreba won the overall girls’ title in the sprint distance race that covered a 750-meter swim, 18K bike and 5K run.

Vince Jeter Lasquites finished third in the boys’ division.

The trio of Karen Mae Indaya, Jessie Sanchez and Joseph Arnel Emia also won a gold medal in the mixed relay. /
