El Tesoro closing in on 11th Alberto’s Pizza crown

El Tesoro Turrones is a round away from clinching the title in the 11th Anniversar­y Alberto’s Pizza Bowling Invitation­al after padding its lead in Round 3 last Friday night at the SM City Bowling Center.

The team composed of Jericho and Jomar Jumapao, Jaime and Dovie Sainz, Luke Bolongan and Micmic Miranda recorded its highest output with 2,723 points in the third round for an aggregate score of 7,754.

El Tesoro Turrones held the lead from the start of the tournament with 2,462 and 2,562 in the first two rounds.

It was in the third round that they pulled away from their closest competitio­n Rich Banana Catsup and San Remigio Beach Club.

Rich Banana Catsup is trailing by 346 points, while San Remigio Beach Club is behind by 369 points.

El Tesoro Turrones had a fine start in the third round with the day’s best of 984 points from Jomar’s 257 points, Jericho’s 223, Miranda’s 192 and Bolongan’s 190 in the four-to-count team tournament.

El Tesoro’s first game was followed with solid scores of 854 and 855 to finish the third round with 2,723 and a lead of more than 300 points going to the final round.

Jomar and Rose Camero of Cetba Ladies got the highest individual score awards for Round 3 in the men’s and women’s division, respective­ly, with scores of 257 and 181, while El Tesoro bagged the highest team single award with 924.

The champion will win the P20,000 cash purse, while the second and third placers will get P15,000 and P10,000, respective­ly. /
