Trans-Asia deploys brand new vessel

As tribute to its loyal Boholanon and Cagayanon passengers, TransAsia Shipping Lines Inc. recently deployed the mv Trans-Asia 19 to serve the routes of Cebu-Tagbilaran-Cebu and Tagbilaran-Cagayan-Tagbilaran.

Mv Trans-Asia 19, the company’s first ever brand new vessel, is a ropax (roll-on/roll-off passenger) vessel with a registered gross tonnage of 2,976 metric tons and a service speed of 14 knots.

Built by Kegoya Dock Co. Ltd. in Kegoya, Japan, mv Trans-Asia 19 boasts state-ofthe-art modern equipment and advanced safety features including two Arpa radars, a Furuno chart plotter, a Furuno automatic identifica­tion system, digital echo sounder with shallow water alarm facility, Global Positionin­g System, VHF radio, MF/HF DSC radio and a gyrocompas­s with three repeaters, among others.

The ship can accommodat­e 450 passengers in its second class non-aircon, airconditi­oned reclining seats, tourist, tourist deluxe and private rooms. A clinic, an informatio­n counter and a convenienc­e store are also available onboard. Persons with disabiliti­es (PWDs) and senior citizens can use the elevator from the cargo hold area to the passenger accommodat­ions.

Trans-Asia Shipping Lines Inc. currently operates six ropax vessels, six cargo vessels and one landing craft tank, serving a total of 11 ports in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
