WITH several fire incidents in the country caused by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and butane, Phoenix LPG Philippines Inc. (PLPI) expects new features for safer cooking will entice homeowners to choose its brand.

Evelyn Gerodias, PLPI general manager, assured the safety of consumers, saying Phoenix Super LPG comes in the 11-kilogram tank, in compliance with the standard acceptable to the Department of Energy.

Gerodias, at the product launch on Saturday, March 23, said their main concern now is the safety of their consumers, especially now that their main target market are those young professionals and millennials, who are still in the stage of exploring the kitchen.

Phoenix Super LPG comes with an inlet safety valve that automatically stops LPG flow in case there is leakage.

“The main reason why we launched the unique feature of our product is to make them (consumers) aware of the safety,” said Gerodias.

Gerodias said that in Cebu alone, 30 percent of the population still uses charcoal and cheaper fuel, which is one of the main causes of fire incidents in the country.

Aside from the safety feature, Phoenix also highlighted a reserve indicator that shows the exact content of the LPG tank and a snap-on mechanism which makes it easier for the consumer to connect the tank to the stove.

Gerodias noted that they have a stronger market for commercial use in Cebu, while in Mindanao, household usage is more common.

“In terms of consumption, both Visayas and Mindanao complement each other,” said Gerodias.

Gerodias said that based on their performance in the market, they are strongest in Cebu, followed by Mindanao and then, Manila where they recently launched the Phoenix Super LPG.

Phoenix Super LPG has 252 hubs in the country.
