ROAD CLOSURE SET FOR PILGRIM WALK

- RAZEL V. CUIZON / RVC

A PORTION of Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City will be closed for at least four hours on Saturday, April 27, for the pilgrim walk of the National Youth Day 2019.

The closure will start from the Capitol Grounds to the Cebu City Sports Center, and all private and public vehicles that will pass by the area will be rerouted, the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) said.

CCTO operations chief Francisco Ouano said they will deploy 150 personnel to supervise the traffic as they expect that the temporary closure of the road will cause heavy traffic.

“We are expecting thousands of participants. That is why we urge those with no urgent and important commitment near the procession route to avoid the area. We also urge the motorists and drivers to extend their patience since closure may extend even after the closure hours because it will depend really as to when the activity will end,” he said.

The religious activity will start at 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All public utility jeepneys (PUJs) coming from Banawa, and Guadalupe, except those with route no. 06A and 07A, in going to Carbon Public Market will have to take V. Rama Avenue, turn left to J. Alcantara Street or at N. Bacalso Avenue to Colon Street, to their usual route, then to their point of destination.

PUJs with route no. 06A and 07A will have to turn right to Leon Kilat Street, turn left to Colon Street, to their usual route in the downtown area.

Private and public vehicles coming from Lahug, Apas and Ayala passing along N. Escario Street, will have to access R.R. Landon St., Junquera Street, Sanciangko Street, and Pelaez Street towards the downtown area.

PUJs with route no. 12L will have to proceed to P. del Rosario Street, while traversing N. Bacalso Avenue, turn left to Osmeña Boulevard, to Fuente Rotunda, turn right to Gen. Maxilom Avenue, to their usual route, then to their point of destination.
