STYLISH AND COMPACT: THE ALL-NEW HONDA BRIO

- CHRISTIAN B. QUILO / Writer

SEIZING the demand for compact vehicles perfect for city driving, Honda rolls out a pint-sized vehicle that is more than meets the eye: the all-new Brio.

First introduced to the market in 2011, the Brio is a relatively new model line from Honda but the Japanese manufacturer aims to impress with a new and improved iteration: a sportier and sleeker look matched with a great set of features—an impressive vehicle without a hefty price tag.

Exterior-wise, the new compact hatchback boasts sleek lines and sharp headlights. It’s also supported by 14-inch alloy wheels, so the vehicle is stable despite its size. Compared to its predecessor, the secondgeneration Brio is bigger in width and height, making way for a bigger legroom and trunk space.

A peek inside will reveal that the revamp isn’t all for aesthetics, but for function and efficiency too. The Brio is powered by a 1.2L SOHC i-VTEC engine equipped with either the Earth Dreams Technology Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) or five-speed manual transmission.

Its features include steering wheel audio controls, an ecodriving indicator for better fuel efficiency, power adjustable side mirrors, automatic windows and flat-folding rear seats to accommodate larger cargo. There is also a 1DIN entertainment system for the lower end variants, while the higher variants come with a seven-inch infotainment system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

On the safety front, the Brio is adequately equipped: a G-Force Control body for improved defense in a collision, driver and front passenger airbags, anti-lock brake system, seatbelt reminders, speed-sensing door locks and other standard safety features.

The Honda Brio comes in five colors: Carnival Yellow, Modern Steel Metallic, Phoenix Orange Pearl, Rallye Red and Taffeta White. Variants are the MT, CVT, RS CVT, and RS Black Top CVT.

Both stylish and compact, the Brio enables one to safely and nimbly navigate through the city’s thoroughfares. This model is proof that a vehicle can be a solid ride inside out without being undermined by its size.

Honda Cars Cebu is located along A. Soriano Avenue, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City.
