Oakridge, AboitizPower renew power contract

-

AS IT expands its footprint in the real estate industry, homegrown developer Oakridge Realty Development Corp. (ORDC) has renewed its partnership with AboitizPower for its supply of electricity.

In a ceremonial signing event on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019 at the Oakridge Executive Club, ORDC inked an agreement with Prism Energy Inc. to supply 1.5 megawatts of electricity to its buildings in the next two years.

“This partnership started two years ago and Oakridge is one of the pioneers in open access here in Cebu. So I think it’s worth commending the risk they took at that time and for venturing out in this partnership with us,” said Juan Alejandro Aboitiz, AboitizPower first vice president for energy trading and sales.

“We thank Oakridge for believing in our expertise and look forward to giving them a competitive advantage through the supply of dependable and adequate electricity,” he added.

ORDC first entered into a power supply agreement with AboitizPower in 2017 through Prism Energy, a joint venture between AboitizPower and Vivant Corp. that actively serves contestable customers in Cebu.

With this, ORDC is now assured of up to 26,280 megawatt-hours of energy to support its expansion for the duration of the contract.

Edmun Liu, ORDC chief executive officer, said under the open access, consumers are given a choice for their power supply.

“Here in Oakridge, we take customer service as our utmost priority and it is our thrust that we ensure that we will be able to deliver what our customers need and one of those needs is power. The ability to provide a consistent supply of quality of power energy into the system of this community is an utmost priority for us,” he said.

Open access allows companies to choose their power supplier aside from the traditional ones and opens the power market to cutthroat competition among suppliers.

Liu said besides the savings on the power costs, customers can experience electricity without brownouts and other power problems.
