P1.8M worth of shabu seized, 17 persons arrested in Danao, Talisay operations

IN JUST two days, authoritie­s arrested 17 persons and seized illegal drugs worth P1.8 million in the province.

In Talisay City, they nabbed seven persons and confiscate­d nearly P1.4 million worth of illegal drugs in two anti-drug operations on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019.

At 1 a.m., two high-value drug suspects were taken into custody during a buy-bust in Barangay San Isidro.

They were identified as Manuel Deiparine, the subject of the operation, and Justine Aparece.

Deiparine was on the Police Regional Office 7’s drug watchlist, while Aparece had been monitored by the Cebu Provincial Police Office.

Arrested with them were suspected drug pushers Alvin Mercado and Anthony Manilag.

The drugs recovered from the four suspects had a collective weight of 185.12 grams, with an estimated value of P1.2 million.

Police Capt. Nazarino Emia, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the operation was conducted after they received several complaints from residents regarding Deiparine’s illegal activities.

In a separate buy-bust, three suspected drug pushers on the city’s drug watchlist were nabbed in Barangay Tabunok at 2:20 a.m.

They were identified as Cris Wilfred Laspona, 21; Diselon Corbeta, 34; and Andel Cabo, 44.

Seized from the suspects were 25.10 grams of shabu worth P170,680.

On Friday, Aug. 16, Drug Enforcemen­t Unit operatives of the Danao City Police Station arrested 10 persons, including a minor, in five drug busts.

Glenmar Jopia and Arvin Remarca, both 29 and listed as high-value targets, were taken into custody around 11 a.m. in Barangay Suba.

Recovered from them were 15.05 grams of shabu worth P105,400.

Police also nabbed Van John Lao, 24, and rescued a 16-year-old girl during an anti-drug operation on Beatriz Durano St. in Poblacion at 8:20 a.m. They, too, were high-value targets, according to Police Lt. Col. Maribel Getigan, Danao City Police chief.

Recovered from them were six medium sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P204,000.

At 9:14 a.m, police also confiscate­d P36,040 worth of suspected shabu from Elvie Henriquez, 21, and Vincent John Apor, 22, on F. Ralota St. in Poblacion. They yielded 10 small sachets of suspected shabu that weighed 5.30 grams.

An hour later, authoritie­s nabbed two other high-value targets in Cambiohan, Poblacion.

They suspects were identified as Argel Dagatan, 28, and Ranel Jacquez, 44.

The two yielded 11 small and one medium sachets of suspected shabu with a street value of P82,144, and cash worth P1,100.

At 12:45 p.m., police captured Renato Duterte III, 42, and Jeva Duterte, 39, both residents of El Cantorio, Looc.

Confiscate­d from them were 21 small sachets of suspected shabu weighing 1.05 grams worth P7,140.

Those arrested will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
