Terrence Williams tops monthly qualifiers to complete Bowler of the Year cast
TERRENCE Williams completed the casts for the Friday Group Bowler of the Year Tournament after stamping his class in the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba) Bowler of the Month tilt on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center.
The 30-handicapper Williams finished the five-game series with a total score of 1,104 from rounds of 228, 208, 183, 160 and 175 to get the December qualifying slot, which was the last out of 12 slots in the men’s division.
Williams beat fellow senior bowlers Amando Despojo and February champion Fred Torrequemada, who scored 1,010 and 954, respectively.
Williams will be joined by Micmic Miranda (January), Torrequemada (February), Jerry Davis (March), Joshua Galarse (April), Jaime Uy (May), Roland Bantilan ( June), Rey Velarde (July), Marvin Sevilla (August), Joseph Yu (September), Docdoc Gothong (October) and Clyde Lim (November).
In the women’s division, Sonia Gakenholz secured the final slot after finishing at third place behind the already-qualified Baby Bacon and Lyn Oka.
Bacon won the monthly tournament with a total score of 947. Oka finished second with 943 and Gakenholz was in third place with 941. The final slot was given to Gakenholz since Bacon and Oka already qualified in January and October.
Joining the three female bowlers in the championship are Inday Aguilar (February), Cynthia Uybengkee (March), Cristilyn Tan (April), Ester Francisco (May), Lucy Lanceta (June), Emi Osada ( July), Johns Calipay (August), Ramilie Gonzales (September) and Flor Bancale (November).
The Friday Group Bowler of the Year is all set on Nov. 8 at the same venue. /
