UNICORNS REWRITE END GAME AGAINST AUTHOR SOLUTIONS

- Alfie Cabrian hits late three-pointer for one-point win to lift Medspecial­ized over Author Solutions JNP AP

ALFIE Cabriana canned a clutch three-pointer to tow the Medspecial­ized Unicorns past the Author Solutions Philippine­s Inc. Hardbacks, 72-71, in the Evo League of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 15 at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.

The Hardbacks were ahead, 7169, when Cabriana found himself wide open in the corner. Without hesitation, Cabriana launched a triple that found the bottom of the net to shove the Unicorns ahead, 72-71, with four seconds left.

The Hardbacks were not able to get anything going on their last possession to give the Unicorns the win, their third in a row to boost their record to 5-7.

Marvin Agruda top-scored for the Unicorns with 22 points on top of 12 rebounds, two blocks, one steal and an assist. Cabriana wound up with 16 markers, while Santiago had a stellar all-around game with 15 points, nine boards, seven steals, six assists and a block.

Meanwhile, the Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs registered a 66-60 win over the Shearwater Health Crusaders to tighten their grip of the top spot. Roberto Castro Jr., Cyril Gayo and Bryan Estay each scored 10 points to lead the Flying Lemurs’ 10th win in 11 games.

The Dynata Warriors kept within striking distance of the Flying Lemurs

after they nipped the Cognizant Tikas, 78-65. Tommy Ugsimar erupted for 31 points, while Karl Rubica added 12 points for Dynata, which stayed one game behind Contact Solutions with its ninth win in 11 outings.

Meanwhile, the Executive Boutique/SVC Bulldogs extended their winning streak to seven games with an 83-72 win over the Results Newtown Spartans. Yvess Suan collected 20 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one steal, Aristotle Alcos added 17 points, eight assist, five boards and two steals as the rampaging Bulldogs climbed to 9-3.

In other games, Kyocera (8-2) edged Optum (9-3), 60-56, while Dyninno (6-5) routed Iploy (2-7), 76-54. /
