-

THE Trinidad Municipal College pulled the rug from under PMI Colleges to nab an 80-78 win and send their semifinal clash to a winner-take-all match in the Seniors division of Season 9 of the Bohol Schools Athletic Association (BSAA) basketball tournament last Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019.

Venbie Socobos had 22 points and five rebounds to spearhead TMC’s upset victory.

Marjoe Enguito scored 25 points for the Navigators, which had their unbeaten run in this tournament snapped.

In the Juniors division, the two semifinal match-ups would also be going the distance. Bohol Wisdom School (BWS) took down GreAtMinds Leadership Academy (GLA), 62-57, while the University of Bohol (UB) defeated the BIT International College, 86-72.

Renzel Fabiana and Vince Animas shone for BWS to nab the upset victory over GLA to extend their season to at least one more game.

Fabiana had 17 points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block while Animas added 13 points, five boards, a steal and a whopping four blocked shots.

GLA appeared to be headed toward an easy win as they led, 33-18, at halftime. However, BWS fought back in the second half and uncorked a 44-24 blast to take the win.

Meanwhile, Mark Guique almost had a triple-double for UB, tallying 16 points and 14 rebounds. He also anchored UB’s fantastic defensive stand, swatting away seven shots. Mark Taylaran led UB with 21 points while Edwin Yap put up 15. /
