Cebu City logs 321 recoveries

THE Cebu City Government has recorded 321 new laboratory-negative or recoveries and 89 new cases of the coronaviru­s disease (Covid-19) on May 29, 2020.

The bulk of the new laboratory-negative cases came from Barangay Mambaling with 279. Other laboratory-negative or recoveries came from Barangays Tejero (22); Labangon (15); Mabolo (two); and one each from Lahug, Capitol Site and Luz.

Cebu City now has 792 laboratory-negative or recovery cases or 36.9 percent recovery rate.

This is the highest recorded laboratory-negative number in a single day to date.

The new cases, meanwhile, came from Barangays Duljo (two); Mambaling (13); Sambag 2 (five); Camputhaw (two); San

Nicolas Proper (four); Sawang Calero (seven); Tinago (one); Luz (one); Tejero (one); Suba (one); Ermita (26); Guadalupe (one); Pasil (eight); Basak San Nicolas (two); Punta Princesa (one); Labangon (three); Lahug (one); Carreta (one); Mabolo (three); Capitol Site (two); Apas (one); San Antonio (one); Cogon Pardo (one); and Tabunan (one).

The Cebu City Health Department also recorded two new fatalities, bringing the total number of mortalitie­s in the city to 27.

Cebu City now has 2,144 Covid-19 positive patients.

In Mandaue City, four persons, including two inmates of the city jail, were found positive of Covid-19 on Friday, May 29.

The other two patients are a 19-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man living in Pacencia Compound in Barangay Tipolo. Both had direct contact with a patient who earlier tested positive of Covid-19.

Mandaue City now has 242 Covid-19 cases, with 12 recoveries and four deaths.

Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan has disclosed that a resident of Barangay Basak was found positive of Covid-19 on Friday, May 29.

The patient has been brought to a hospital and is currently being treated, Chan added.

Lapu-Lapu City now has 92 Covid-19 cases with 40 recoveries.

In Cebu Province, three new Covid-19 cases were reported by local officials on Friday, May 29.

Of the three new cases, two were from Minglanill­a town and one from Cordova town, said Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.

The two cases from Minglanill­a are women, ages 57 and 33, both belonging to the same family. They are now admitted in a private hospital in Cebu City.

The patient from Cordova town is an old case but was found positive in a repeat test.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Cebu Province has reached 147.
