Gullas to cops: Arrest ‘Akyat Bahay’ robber
TALISAY City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. has ordered police to immediately arrest those behind the burglary of a three-story house in Barangay Lawaan 1 at dawn Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Gullas said he had ordered Lt. Col. Randy Caballes of the Talisay City Police Station (TCPS) to arrest those involved in the crime as a way to deter future “Akyat Bahay” robbers from striking in his city.
Gullas said he was informed by Caballes that they had identified two possible suspects behind the incident but he urged police to conduct a “deeper investigation” on the incident.
Warning
He also warned potential criminals that they will face arrest if they continue victimizing his constituents.
“As I have said before, ayaw gyud ninyo suwayi ang Talisay PNP kay di gyud mo lung-an og di mo masikop (don’t test our local police because they will not stop until you are arrested),” Gullas added.
According to a report by the TCPS, the unidentified burglar entered the three-story house in Barangay Lawaan 1 at around 2:30 a.m. and carted away P200,000 worth of belongings, which included cash, gadgets and even clothes.
Patrolman Raffy Rempojo, who is investigating the case, said the owners of the house noticed Thursday morning that their window had already been damaged.
The burglar entered the house through the fire exit. He then climbed to the third floor, where the master’s bedroom is located. He broke the window to be able to gain entrance.
The burglar spent around 30 minutes inside the house. He even changed his clothes and shoes while inside the house.
He placed some of the items he stole in a blue bag, said the police.
Rempojo said the person of interest was a notorious thief in Metro Cebu who frequented some barangays to steal things from houses.
