Education firm offers programs to Pinoys wanting to work abroad

-

A PRIVATE education company has recently entered the Philippine market to offer education opportunities to Filipinos who wish to land jobs abroad.

“We are coming to the Philippines to offer education opportunities to the Filipinos who we understand have a life-long passion for learning and training. We at Oxford International are just as dedicated, enthusiastic, and like-minded in delivering learning without limits. We also welcome this opportunity to tell everyone that our programs not only deliver education from a unique accredited international service provider but also provide prospects of employability in Canada,” said Andy Caldwell, chief commercial officer at Oxford International Education Group (OIEG), in a statement.

OIEG has an extensive portfolio of university pathway programs and online courses that help boost one’s skills and learning.

It offers academic English courses at schools in the United Kingdom (UK) and North America. It offers routes to higher education through partnerships with universities across the UK, Europe and the United States.

In the Philippines, the company wants to attract more Filipinos to get onboard its program, particularly in the caregiving profession.

Ian Sagarino, marketing development manager at OIEG Philippines, said Cebuanos, in particular can take advantage of the program and become successful especially since they are known to have deep faith and devotion, which are favorable traits in the caregiving profession.

“The Cebuanos are particularly known as religious people with a deep sense of spirituality. This translates to tender loving care. With a good sense of humor, Cebuanos can easily create smiles to the people they interact with,” said Sagarino.

Filipinos, he said, pour in their heart and soul as caregivers. They have been in training throughout their lives, taking care of elder family members at home.

“Filipinos have accumulated this expertise at home. It is common to see children at home, caring for their grandparents,” explained Sargano.

Since 1991, the international education provider has been helping more than 80,000 students worldwide achieve academic success every year.

OIEG helps students in their transition to study and work abroad. It also has industry partners in high quality institutions for possible work placements for its graduates.

It announced that it has acquired East Coast International College, Canada to offer a care giving vocational course called “Continuing Care Assistant” (CCA) to qualified Filipinos.

The CCA program is open to people who are seeking a rewarding career in the health care sector in Nova Scotia, where employment opportunities continue to grow.

“Our acquisition of East Coast International adds a new cap to our sterling performance in the education sector globally. We OIEG have a long experience in providing education opportunities to people all over the world while East Coast International’s Continuing Care Assistant program delivers person-focused care to individuals. Our matching competencies should enable our combined strengths to deliver learning without border and without limits,” said Caldwell.

Graduates of the 40-week CCA caregiving course will acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to deliver appropriate and respectful care. Its blended learning approach combines technical, employability and other essential care-giving skills. Placements for successful program graduates may occur in a variety of settings such as home care, nursing homes and home for the aged.

“We create life-enhancing learning experiences that help students worldwide to develop personally and professionally and that enrich their future opportunities,” he said.

Caldwell pointed out the compassionate culture that is unique among Filipinos.

“The Filipinos homegrown values like deep respect for the elderly and close family ties are intrinsic traits needed for a career as a caregiver,” he said.

Thousands of Filipino caregivers working abroad provide for a better life for their families. They deliver daily committed care and attention to elderly persons and help bring pride to the Philippines as hardworking professionals.
