Cebu bus terminal manager warns conductors: Take a bath, look presentable before passengers

-

BUS conductors working for Cebu’s South and North Bus Terminals who don’t shower, have bad body odor and don’t wear proper clothing will no longer be allowed to enter the two terminals.

This was the warning of Carmen Quijano, manager of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) and the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT), on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022.

Quijano told reporters that she had received complaints from passengers that some bus conductors in the two bus terminals were not observing proper hygiene practices while on duty.

“Whenever I received these complaints, I often called the attention of bus conductors,” Quijano said in Cebuano.

Quijano reminded bus conductors at CSBT and CNBT of the importance of observing proper hygiene practices, especially since their work involves dealing with people traveling to the Province’s towns and cities.

Aside from failure to observe proper hygiene practices, Quijano said bus conductors who have improper haircuts and wear improper clothing such as sleeveless shirts and shorts will be prohibited from entering the two terminals.

Shirtless conductors are also prohibited entry inside the two terminals, Quijano said.

Though she didn’t require them to wear expensive clothing, Quijano urged bus conductors to wear clothing that will make them presentable to their passengers, especially tourists who will avail of buses to travel to tour sites across the Province.

Bus drivers too

Aside from conductors, Quijano also urged bus drivers to observe proper hygiene practice, including wearing proper shoes while they are at the terminal.

The wearing of shoes is pursuant to Memorandum Circular (MC) 2011-004 issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) which requires public utility vehicle drivers to wear shoes.

Violators of MC 2011-004 may be fined up to P2,000 for the first offense, and get a P5,000 fine and franchise cancelation for the third offense.
