Balletcent­er Cebu back with shows on Sept. 17 and 18

AFTER a two-year hiatus, Balletcent­er Cebu is back with shows on Sept. 17 and

18. Artistic directors Gregory Aaron and Nicolas Pacaña present “Summer Spectacula­r 2022” featuring the 30-minute classical ballet “Paquita.” It stars Cheron Kishes Co and Khynloyd Genson.

This classical excerpt has charmed audiences around the world for generation­s, showcasing principal and soloist variations with classical purity.

Additional­ly, Balletcent­er is bringing back Garbo Sugbo Nicolas Pacana’s “Outcast.” It stars Kissy Deanne Acar and Anthony Gabriel Retuya. This ballet is about the Philippine experience during WW2, and it was highly successful when it premiered in 2019.

On Sept. 17 and 18, there will be young children’s matinées at 1:30 p.m. featuring a cast of 270 students ages 3 and up, performing to an eclectic mix of classical and popular music.

Also on the matinée program will be excerpts from “Paquita” and “Outcast.”

The gala performanc­es at 6:30 p.m. will feature “Paquita” and “Outcast” performed by pre-pro and profession­al dancers. Included in the gala are intermedia­te junior levels dancing to a medley of classical and jazz music.

Venue will be SM Seaside City Cebu Centerstag­e, with tickets sold at P500, P300 and P200.
