Nike Rise expands in Cebu

SPORTSWEAR giant Nike opened its first Nike Rise store outside of Manila in Ayala Center Cebu Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.

This Nike Rise concept store offers an “immersive shopping experience” that carries wider categories like the Jordan Line, women, kids, yoga, and more.

Miguel Celdran, managing director of Green Tee Inc., the official Nike Store Partner in the Philippines, said they pick Cebu as the pilot area for Nike Rise in the Visayas and Mindanao because of the market’s readiness for this new concept.

“We believe it’s long overdue. The Cebu market is very mature and sophisticated. We believe

Cebu is more than ready for Nike Rise,” he said.

Nike Rise is the latest look for Nike. Celdran said the store carries categories they have never carried before.

“This big-door concept carries all categories, a complete full-line concept,” he said.

Nike Rise Cebu is the last Nike

Rise store to open this year after SM North Edsa, Glorietta, and the flagship Nike Rise in BGC High Street. For next year, the company will open Nike Rise in Davao City.

“We are planning to pilot more of this concept in provincial cities next year,” he said.

According to Celdran, the brick-and-mortar business has been recovering after more than two years into the pandemic with foot traffic in stores going back to the usual levels.

“Since this year, our foot traffic is almost pre-pandemic but our sales are already pre-pandemic,” he said, noting that instead of laying off their workers the company repurposed them to handle online orders.

“Pandemic was a big challenge and stores were closed for many months. Fortunately, we have online sales to get us through.”
