‘Start-Up PH’ out Sept. 26

- ALDEN RICHARDS

GMA Network presents an inspirational story on pursuing dreams and believing in oneself with the ground-breaking primetime series “Start-Up PH.”

Set to premiere on Sept. 26, the program is the first-ever TV adaptation of the breakthrough 2020 South Korean series which is based on the original format “Start-Up” created by Hyeryeon Park and produced by Studio Dragon Corp., co-produced by Studio Dragon and CJ ENM.

“Start-Up PH” is topbilled by Alden Richards as Tristan a.k.a. Good Boy and Bea Alonzo as Dani. All set to spice up the lives of Tristan and Dani are the equally important characters of Ina portrayed by Yasmien Kurdi and Dave played by Jeric Gonzales.

“We have a show and it is something that we can be very proud of. Fans of the Korean version are excited to see if this Filipino adaptation is worth their while, and based on the trailer, we came out with something really good. Aside from that, I’m sure that the whole cast is very proud to have Bea in this show. She puts good pressure on us, especially with the way she handles her character,” said Richards.

“Of course, there’s an adjustment period since it’s my first time working with all of them. But I’m always on my toes trying to let them feel that I’m a good co-worker and that I try to be the best version of myself in front of them. Now that I’m restarting, I’m enjoying every moment. I’m not fearful to try new things,” said Alonzo.

Kurdi, who is a certified K-Drama fan, shared how she landed her dream role in this local adaptation: “When they offered me the project, I immediately accepted it! At first I felt all the pressure but after I watched the series again, I realized that we could pull it off. I’m also happy that I got to work with my co-stars and finally, fans get what they want: A show where Bea and I play sisters.

Gonzales, meanwhile, feels overwhelmed to be part of this huge project: “It’s my first time to work with Alden and Bea and it’s definitely a dream-come-true. At first, I was starstruck to see them all on set. But I thank them for making everything easy. Everybody helped out on how to make the scenes better. I’m very grateful because I didn’t expect that I would be the playing this role I’m in.”

“Start-Up PH” tackles the different journeys to success and self-discovery. It highlights the importance of being surrounded by supportive and loving people, and proves that through sheer will and determination, every dream is worth pursuing no matter how hard it can get.

Catch “Start-Up PH” on Sept. 26, weeknights at 8:50 p.m. on GMA and at 11:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and at 11 p.m. every Friday on GTV.
