Carampatana Food-2012 demolishes 2019
THE Carampatana Food Corp.2012 are moving on to the semifinal round with plenty of momentum on its side as it routed Batch 2019, 96-79, in Division C of the 25th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Athletic Association (SHAABAA) basketball tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at the Magis Eagles Arena.
It was a woefully lopsided affair that started with Batch 2012 zooming ahead, 13-1, after the first five minutes of play. It was all 2012 the rest of the way as the team led by as much as 27, 92-65.
Mavii Suarez had a monster ballgame with 32 points and 18 rebounds, while Lorenzo Carampatana and Dandan Tecson each had 13 and 12 points, respectively. Batch 2012 ended the elimination round with a 7-1 card, good for the second seed behind the unbeaten Batch 2014.
In Division B, the Cebu Landmasters-2003 blasted the Casino Ethyl Alcohol-2010, 83-61, to complete a sweep of its elimination games. Batch 2003 catapulted in front for good in the second period where it uncorked a 27-15 salvo to build a 49-31 lead. It would not be touched from that point onwards to finish the round with a perfect 8-0 record.
Carlo Alerta led the way for 2003 with 17 points, making five trifectas. Daryle Tan added 15 while Justin Huang, Wilmer Ong and RJ Abalos chipped in 10 points apiece.
Batch 2010 ended the elimination with a 5-3 card.
In Division A, the Magis Medical Fund-1997 toppled the Vivant Corenergy-1994, 64-58, to move to 6-2. It was a close match, but Batch 1997 found its second wind in the fourth period to create enough separation to come away with the win.
Roderick Mangubat paced Batch 1997 with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Mark Sy had 14 while Walter Ong chipped in 11.
Dynacast-2001 also ran roughshod over Speed Demon-1996, winning by a whopping 49 points, 105-56. The winners improved to 5-2 and had six players score in double-figures led by Mark Hing’s 13 points and 11 rebounds. Carlo Villarica had 12, Jason Arquisola and Madhoor Naidu added 11 each while John Paul Cabrera and Erwin Ngo tallied 10 apiece.
