Children’s Month activities ongoing

ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL – The Local Government Unit (LGU) through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is currently celebrating the Children’s Month 2015 with the theme “Komunidad at pamahalaan magkaisa: pang-aabuso sa bata wakasan na” starting on Nov. 1 to 30, 2015.

The month-long celebration is under the Republic Act no. 10661 “An act declaring November of every year as National Children’s Month”.

It will be participated by children coming from three districts of the island. There are different activities in district, city and provincial levels.

The congress promotes children’s participation in nation building as well as to showcase and enhance the skills and talents of each child all over the island.

The children’s participation is one of the rights of children stipulated in article 12 of the convention on the rights of the child (CRC). The CRC recognizes the right of participation of children in decision-making processes that is significant in their lives in the long run.

Different activities are still going on in three districts to determine the representative of the city to the provincial level.
