LPA brings rains
A LOW pressure area (LPA) will bring rains in most parts of Visayas and Mindanao throughout the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said yesterday.
The state weather bureau said as of 4 a.m. the LPA was spotted at 370 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar province, and is embedded along an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) currently affecting Visayas and Mindanao.
Pagasa said the weather system will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, Mimaropa and Bicol.
At 8:06 a.m., Pagasa has placed Cebu, Bohol and Biliran under yellow warning (flooding is possible in low lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas).
Once the LPA develops into a cyclone, it will be named "Carina."
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Luzon.
Pagasa said moderate to occasional strong winds will blow from southwest over eastern Mindanao, and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough.
Light to moderate winds will blow from northeast to east over Luzon, and from southwest to south over Visayas and the rest of Mindanao with slight to moderate seas, Pagasa added.
