Cahrihl forum held

A PEACE forum to inform stakeholders in different issues involving the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (Cahrihl) was conducted at the Pastoral Building of the Redemptorist Church in Davao City by different progressive groups yesterday in line with the peace talks now being conducted in Oslo, Norway between Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and National Democratic Front panel.

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) Southern Mindanao Region (SMR) Secretary General Sheena Duazo said that the purpose of the event was to educate the people on the CARHRIHL which was signed by former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada.

to back pud sa presentation sa Mercy mission sa Compostela valley para ma-expose pud kining pagsabotahe , peace spoilers sa peace negotiations (This is because there are still many documented violations on CARHRIHL, this is the reason why we also had a back to back presentation of the Mercy mission in Compostela Valley to expose the sabotage done by peace spoilers in peace negotiations),’ Duazo said.

Before the formal program Jay Apiag from Karapatan revealed that in their fact finding mission together with the Exodus for Justice and Peace conducted last August 9-10 at Tagbawi, Barangay Rizal, Monkayo and August 17-18 at Barangay Parasanun at Maragusan, they really confirmed that allegations that there are military harassments in the area.

“This is still a big issue because the peace negotiations are ongoing, and their main topic includes CARHRIHL, which includes all the provisions that were violated and we are voicing out now,”Apiag said.

Duazo said that they are set to monitor more violations committed and present it to the monitoring committee of AFP and NDFP.

Duazo said that within the course of the week, they are set to conduct Kampuhan in different agencies in like NCIP, Department of Education, Mines and Geosciences Bureau which are direct agencies which concerned in the claims of the different claims and issues of the government.
