City dads hit UN for insulting Rody
DAVAO City councilors took offense on the United Nations (UN) rapporteurs’ “insulting” act against President Rodrigo Duterte, saying UN experts have embarrassed the president and the more than 16 million Filipinos who voted for him.
In yesterday’s regular session, committee on finance, ways, means and appropriations chair Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang expressed dismay over the supposed meddling of the UN special rapporteurs who were looking into the rising death toll attributed to the war against illegal drugs declared by Duterte.
“Pag kinwestyon mo ang president at hindi ka man lang dumaan sa protocol, I think it is foul, especially, if the intention has some malice. Why is it they are focusing on the human rights of this criminals and not to the victims?” Dayanghirang asked in a media interview.
Duterte himself, on Sunday, said the UN special rapporteurs broke protocol when they aired a statement criticizing his administration.
He challenged the UN experts to meet with him and talk in public to discuss their allegations over rampant extrajudicial killings (EJKs) of suspected drug personalities in the country as violation of human rights.
Dayanghirang said he is conducting a research so he could pass a resolution requesting the Bureau of Immigration to investigate the rapporteurs.
“The problem of these people, maayo lang muatake sa presidente, walay respeto sa Pilipinas (The problem with these people, they are only good at hitting the president, they do not respect the Philippines.)” Dayanghirang continued.
