Customs anticipate­s P18-M in MICP auction

MANILA - SOME P18 million is expected to be earned by the Bureau of Customs (BoC) as it holds another public auction of various goods at Manila Internatio­nal Container Port (MICP) later this month.

In a statement, the bureau on August 30 will be selling thirteen 73x20’ lots and twelve 12x40’ containers of various goods, either abandoned or seized in favour of the government.

Among the items scheduled for auction are: one used 2005 Lexus LX470 pegged at a floor price of P850,000 and a used 2006 Jeep Cherokee with a floor price of P450,000.

The other merchandis­e to be sold to bidders include styropor, medical supplies, paper cups, used furniture and household goods. Four 4x40’ containers of ginger will also be sold at a floor price of P5,162,800.

Public viewing of merchandis­e and pre-bid conference for all qualified bidders is on August 26.

The MICP's Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD) will conduct the public auction sale through sealed bidding pursuant to the provisions of Section 1139 to 1150 of the Customs Modernizat­ion and Tariff Act (CMTA), in relation to Customs Administra­tive Order 10-2007, and other relevant Customs Memorandum Orders.

Meanwhile, the Port of Manila reported a total revenue of P21,221,034.00 from the public auction conducted last August 17.

Eight lots were sold, and a total of twenty-five containers were disposed off from this auction.
