Eastmincom to form anti-terror group

-

THE Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) is looking for the possibility of implementing a joint task force for antiterrorism next month.

Eastmincom public information officer Major Ezra Balagtey, in an interview, said that the “joint task force” will serve as the forces under Eastmincom which will comprise of the armed forces, the component of the army, and the navy.

Balagtey said that they already have the structure of what a joint task force should be. He said they have been intensifying their operations against terrorism to ensure the safety of the people in their areas of responsibility (AORs).

The joint task force anti-terrorism, on the other hand, will be established to have a fusion of information that will help them come up with a complete situation awareness relating to anti-terrorism, Balagtey said, adding that this includes other government agencies.

Balagtey said that the military and the police, in coordination with other law enforcement units and government agencies, are already studying the functions of the task force anti-terrorism.

“We are in the process of activating the task force anti-terrorism with the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) para mas maganda yung ating monitoring dito sa ating periphery,” Balagtey said.

PSSCC head retired General Benito de Leon earlier said that the security forces have been doing a security restructuring to ensure that a bombing incident will not happen again in the city. ICT
