World Teachers Day celebration today

-

THE Department of Education (DepEd) celebrates today the World Teachers Day (WTD) dubbed as “Guro: Kabalikat sa Pagbabago” in a bid to recognize the teacher’s commitment in nation building.

Deped-11 spokesperson Jenilito Atillo said 4,500 teachers in Mindanao are set to attend the one-day program at the Ateneo de Davao University (Addu).

Tagged as the modern heroes, educators from regions 9, 10, 11, 12, and Caraga are expected to join the celebration here.

Atillo said this celebration highlights the department’s sincere appreciation for teachers’ integral contributions in revolutionizing the educational reform in the country.

Today, Deped also celebrates the National Teachers’ Month (NTM).

The culmination of the celebration is set on October 5 as designated by United Nations Education and Cultural Education (Unesco).

All school heads, district supervisors, school division superintendents (SDS), and Deped regional directors are urged to actively lead all activities for the NTM, NTD and WTD celebrations.

“This is to honor teachers for their hard work, sacrifices and dedication,” Atillo stressed.

He said they also want to acknowledge and give emphasis on the crucial role that teachers’ play in developing globally minded citizens, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation. JCR
