3-day live-out training for drug dependents
THE Agricultural Training Institute’s (ATI)11 of the Department of Agriculture is planning to intervene in the rehabilitation process of the drug surrenderees by conducting a 3-day live-out Training on Containerized Gardening for those former drug dependents and pushers in Panabo City.
There will be 30 selected participants in the 1st batch of the Training.
The opening Program will be on October 3 at the ATI Regional Training Center, Brgy. Datu Abdul, Panabo City.
In Panabo City alone, it was reported by the Philippine National Police and the Local Government that there are more than a thousand drug dependents and pushers who have submitted to the authorities as of July 2016. They also consented with the government through an oath-taking ceremony to terminate such illegal activity in the locale. Apparently, the recent statistic report of surrendered local drug dependents and pushers shows the ailing number of individuals who are in need of help.
There will be five separate batches for the training to accommodate the total number of surrenderees. Each batch will be composed of thirty individuals who will be trained for three days, including a field tour. The said training will provide them many environmental, social, and health benefits which include among others the provision of local source of food, education on the origins of food, adds green spaces to cities, helps prevent soil erosion, mitigates stormwater runoff, helps filter air and rain water and creates leisure and recreational spaces for humans.
