Comval celebrates ‘National Peace Month’
COMPOSTELA Valley province - The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) together with the Local Government Unit of Compostela Valley Province is set to celebrate the “National Peace Consciousness Month” today with the theme “Kita ang Pagbag-o, Kita ang Kalinaw.”
The event will be graced by top officials of the AFP, led by Lt. Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom), and Maj. Gen. Rafael Valencia, commander of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division of the Philippine Army.
While local officials of the province will be led by Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy and Vice Gov. Manuel Zamora, as well as the municipal and barangay officials are also expected to join the celebration.
Various national agencies, particularly the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) from the regional and provincial offices, Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs) of the province, Government Employees, Indigenous Peoples (IP) Community, Muslim Community, Farmers and Miners sector as well as the AFP and the Philippine National Police (PNP) will also participate in the event.
There will be an Oath of Peace and the Peace Covenant Signing which will be held at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol.
The Oath of Peace will be led by Gov. Uy together with the participants to solicit cooperation and deepen commitment of stakeholders in becoming active agents of peace.
Other activities of the celebration includes a symposium which will start at 2 0’clock in the afternoon focusing on the peace initiatives. There will be a Peace Gallery Exhibit which will highlight the work of art of the youths expressing ideas of true peace.
At night, there will be a “Liwanag ng Kapayapaan” to project the greater impact of the community on Peace Advocacy which will be participated between the provincial and local governments, line agencies and the private sector in working towards the attainment of peace and development in the province.
The peace forum will then end with a Boodle Fight that symbolizes cohesion, camaraderie and solidarity in achieving long lasting peace in the province and in the whole country.
