19 Unit 5 jins reach DCAA Meet
A TOTAL of 19 jins from Emar Human and Environmental College (Emar), Davao Widsom Academy (DWA), University of Mindanao (UM) and Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) will advance to the Davao City Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet after hauling gold medals in their respective divisions in the Unit 5 Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) Meet High School Taekwondo Tournament held at the Regional Management Committee Gym in RMC, Davao City Wednesday.
Emar's gold winners were Kelly Anne Lada, Albert Quintanilla, Aruym Deane Cabilao, Christian Noel Andres, Isabel Margaret Deguzman, May Joy Jonas, Christine Kate Godian and Adrian Hawtay while DWA's Erika Fronteras, Florika Jumalon, Rexie Ann Dela Rama, Eurico Fronteras, Chino Sy Tancontian, and Florence Marlon Jumalon also captured one gold apiece.
Aira Jecaniah Lim, Jules Marco Solilap and Patricia Malubay while Jan Ellyze Delos Reyes, Jan Louise Delos Reyes and Bea Joy Orbita won golds for RMC.
Emar head coach Anthony Non will be the Unit 5 taekwondo team coach.
Non, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said he was confident to clinch the boys division title considering some of his athletes are veterans of national competitions.
He said Emar's Cabilao, Jonas, Lada, and Altes all competed in past Palarong Pambansa.
Non aims to regain the DCAA overall champion title that escaped them the past two years.
"We are the overall champion last 2013, pero last year Unit 8 ang nakakuha," he added.
Non also said they will start training next week at the Kaizen Gym Buhangin. The Unit 5 jins will train every after class and improve on their turning kicks.
