A teachers’ camp in Buda?

-

A DAVAO City councilor is pushing for the establishment of a Teachers’ Center in Marilog District similar to Baguio City's Teachers’ Camp to create an Educational Hub for Davao City and Mindanao educators in this far-flung area.

In Sun.Star Davao interview yesterday with committee on education, science and technology, arts and culture chair Councilor Pilar Braga, she plans on presenting the proposal to the City Council soon.

It came after several suggestions were raised during the Consultative Conference of Davao Educators held last September 28 at Jose Maria College (JMC).

In a document sent by Braga yesterday, she said they are urging President Rodrigo Duterte to allocate funds from his infrastructure funds for the establishment of the Teachers’ Center located in the summer capital of Davao City.

With Marilog District's sprawling flora and fauna, the councilor thinks it makes the perfect location for the teacher’s center.

World-class facilities for the trainings and other educational activities will be placed, the councilor remarked.

If approved, the center shall serve as a venue for teachers’ training and workshops, conventions, recreation and other educational activities provided with world-class facilities, such as dormitories, function rooms, convention hall, prayer rooms, cafeteria, amphitheater, audio-visual rooms and others.

Braga said that the outdoors will have different gardens and manmade waterfalls with manicured lawns and other amenities.

The estimated budget for the whole facility amounts to P500million. JRC
