7 face drug raps

SEVEN men were charged before the City Prosecutio­n Office after they were arrested last Friday for allegedly having a pot session at Vista View Diversion Road, Carlos P. Garcia Highway, Barangay Langub in Ma-a, Davao City.

Charged for violation of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), 12 (possession of equipment for illegal drugs) and 15 (use of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165, oth-

erwise known as the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were Marco Brandon L. Vasquez, 21, Joshua C. David, 20, Giovanni C. Manuel, 20, John Michael Gador, 22, Manuel I. Briones, 22, Carl John R. Hubo, 23, and Rhocelle Alexus T. Pimentel, 24.

In a text message, Talomo Police Station Commander P. Supt Grecel Sagpang said that authoritie­s arrested all the respondent­s after they received a report from a concerned citizen through a text message.

Seized from the possession of the respondent­s is 778.575 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of P38,759.

The complaint lodged against the respondent­s is being resolved by Prosecutor Faizal Padate. KVC told the reporters, adding that these provinces must present documents supporting their claims such as copies of Sangunian Panglungso­d (SP) resolution­s declaring the city or a municipali­ty under the state of calamity.

So far, the areas to receive the cash assistance has successful­ly complied with the necessary conditions prior to the disburseme­nt of the cash assistance.

“We cannot quantify if how much each family will receive, but it may vary according to the guideline of the local government concern on how they will give the donation,” Mahipus added.

He bared that five percent of the city government budget of P7 billion will be deducted. This means that the government will now have a remaining P345 million pesos for calamity fund.

The vice-chair of the committee on finance, ways and appropriat­ions also noted that within this week, the cash assistance will be delivered as soon as the check containing the amount will be signed by the city mayor. JCR (For full story visit www.sunstar.com.ph/ davao/)
