Don’t bring prohibited items in cemeteries

-

THE Davao City government reminded the public anew not to bring prohibited items inside cemeteries in observance of the All Saints' and All Souls' Day on November 1 and 2.

City administrator Zuleika Lopez said deadly weapons, liquors and entertainment devices that may disturb others and/ or cause trouble inside the cemeteries are prohibited.

"Usually, we impleAT ment liquor ban if we do Oplan Kaluluwa," she said, adding that such usual practice stands even if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has not directed it.

Former city mayor and now country's president Rodrigo Duterte, earlier, issued a directive banning alcoholic beverages and loud music in all cemeteries during the All Saints' and All Souls' Day.

The city government is already coordinating with Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) including other law enforcement units for security measures.

Lopez said medical teams from the Central 911 will be on stand-by in selective cemeteries and a separate medical team responder on patrol for emergency assistance.

She added that the City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will have information dissemination as early as within the week to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

"It is going to be a long weekend so we also encourage our constituents to go to cemeteries earlier. If possible huwag sabaysabay pumunta ng sementeryo para hindi tayo mahirapan," Lopez said.

There will 2,600 police and force multipliers from Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to be deployed in major cemeteries starting October 31, Monday, for All Saints' and All Souls' Day next month. City police spokesperson Senior Inspector Catherin dela Rey advised the public to refrain from bringing items that are prohibited in the cemeteries, to leave someone in their homes and be vigilant.
