I CANNOT thank you enough when you headlined about the traffic in Bankerohan last Monday and talked about it in your editorial yesterday.

I join you and the city government in lamenting this situation that we are forced to live with.

At first, I was patient, as I believe that all this is for the good of all. Who does not want drainage systems that ensure that floodwaters do not hamper our movements whenever it rains. Who does not want better water service?

But when the road works just dragged on and on, and the contractors seemingly not disturbed by the fact that traffic congestion has worsened by the day for months now, you cannot help but rant.

It is unfair that thousands of people have to suffer because of the incompetence of people who are paid to do their job, anyway.

True, we can always schedule our trips earlier or later. But that is only for the daily routine. How about the many instances when we have to move from downtown to south because of some important concerns that are not part of your routine? Have you ever been caught in that traffic? It is terrible. Very terrible such that I now dread having to cross that area except when going to and from work. But of course, that is not possible. There are emergencies, there are importance concerns that cannot wait. there are people that have to be met across this horrible place.

I am appealing to the contractors, to DPWH and DCWD, please, have mercy on us ordinary motorists and commuters. This is already beyond just an apology. We want quick action. Do your job and finish it right away! Rica Garcia Matina, Davao City
