The taste they offer to Dabawenyos is apparently unfading, capturing not just the hearts of the locals but their palates as well.

If there is one establishment that has witnessed the progress of Davao City through the last four decades or more, then that is the New Davao Famous Restaurant along Ramon Magsaysay Avenue.

Forty-six years since the resto was first established way back in the 1970s, locals still keep on coming at the establishment just to have a taste of their favorite Chinese cuisine.

Last October 17, the resto had re-opened its business, not that it had experienced closure before but because they have now chosen to offer a new look and feels to their avid customers.

Department of Tourism 11 Director Roberto Alabado, Davao City Administrator lawyer Zuleika Lopez, and officials from the City Tourism Office (CTO) were just among the people who graced the event.

When asked why their business is still thriving even after decades of operation, New Davao Famous owner Tessie Hao Alonso said in an interview that the quality of taste and service that should be offered to the customers must not change.

“It may be the food [that we are serving our customers]. Dapat hindi mag change ang sarap ng pagkain mo [as time goes by],” Hao said, emphasizing that consistency is indeed important in the business.

She added that there are three factors that make a successful restaurant and those are good service, ambiance, and food.

“Tapos ang owner syempre, dapat hands on din,” Hao empha sized.

Dropping by at the resto now, customers will see how much the place has transformed. The owner has revolutionized its look with a modern twist and even made the dining area very spacious.

“Everything has changed. Sabi nga ni President Rodrigo Duterte na we have to change, so we have to change too,” Hao said, referring to their resto.

Hao said that they are also holding functions at their resto which has four function rooms.

Aside from that, they now have a coffee bar too where customers can eat burgers and french fries, among others.

The resto has indeed made a complete makeover and adopted modern stuff to keep up with time.

But one thing is certain though, the ambiance of the place may have changed but the quality of service and food that the resto offers remain exemplary.

Hang out with family and friends there over sumptuous Chinese meals. For inquiries, you may contact them through 227-1972 or 227-2633.
