UM to send 18 students abroad

THE University of Mindanao is set to send a total of 18 students under two different student exchange programs to different partner schools abroad for the spring semester.

The university has two main student exchange programs, the AIMS (ASEAN Internatio­nal Mobility for Students), and the UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific), with partner schools in countries like Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, and Thailand.

The following are set to complete a semester abroad after complying with the necessary training and requiremen­ts needed by the External Relations and Internatio­nal Affairs Office: AIMS program: Mark Anthony Garvida – BSA, Maria Clarisza Pacleb – BSA, Kenneth Jan Namoc – BSA, Irrah Jozyl Laygo – BSBA Human Resource Management, Ruben Tilona Jr – BS Chemical Engineerin­g ,Jean Roger Escalante – BS Chemical Engineerin­g, Johnrick Christophe­r Espenosa – BS Civil Engineerin­g, Jocelyn Corpuz – BS Chemical Engineerin­g. UMAP Program: Fey Isabelle Ganancial – BSED English, Junel Garsuta – BSED Social Studies, Carlo Vinci Arcipe – BSED English, Jona Trisha Aleonar – AB MMA, Joseph Daniel Malabar – AB MMA, Marielle Joyce Morano – BS Architectu­re, Necky Julia – BSBA Human Resource Management, Sarah Joy Pasa – BEED, Ana Mae Majesta Arpon – BSA, Alvaro Luis Madrazo – BS Psychology.

The university has taken an active role in encouragin­g internatio­nal participat­ion, and on Feb. 28, is also set to hold its commemorat­ion of the 4TH Internatio­nal Mobility Day.

Students who have previously taken a semester abroad are expected to speak on their experience and how exposure to a different schooling environmen­t helps in broadening their perspectiv­es.

Foreign students hosted by the University of Mindanao will also put up bazaars and other attraction­s showcasing their country.

The Mobility Day celebratio­n will be at the UM AVR 2 at Matina campus from 9:00 am to 4: 00 pm.
