11th APM chess underway Mar 5

THE 11th Acas Palero Moulic (APM) Chess960 & Standard Tournament is set on March 5, 2017 at Damosa Market Basket, Lanang, Davao City.

One of the organizers Ely Acas, in a Facebook chat with Sun.Star Davao, said chessers will compete in the six-round Swiss format tournament sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

Participants may compete in blitz chess 960, rapid chess 960 and standard chess event.

Registration fees are P200 (rapid 960), P150 (rapid 960 students/females), P100 (blitz chess 960), P150 (standard) and P100 (standard kiddies).

The rapid champion will take home P3,000 and a trophy while the second and third placers will claim P2,000 and P1,000, respectively, with medals.

Top blitz player will receive P1,000 while P500 and P300 will go to the next two placers.

The standard champion, meanwhile, will pocket P1,000 and the second and third will grab P500 and P300, respectively.

Special awards will also be given to the top 1900, top female and top 1860 in each event.

Participants are urged to bring their own chess clocks.
