DCPO needs equipment, manpower
THE lack of equipment and manpower resources remain to be the top concern of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to effectively fight crime, thus, they sought the help of Davao City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) to formulate a resolution to expedite the problem.
Speaking yesterday, February 23, during the regular meeting of the CPOC at Grand Men Seng Hotel, DCPO director Police Superintendent Michael John Dubria recommended to the council to craft a resolution to be addressed to the PNP chief Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa to address their plight.
During his presentation, he cited that there were four non-standard Police Stations (PS) in the city, these are PS Sasa, PS San Pedro, PS Paquibato
and PS Buhangin that do not have land titles named under the PNP, preventing them from upgrading their facilities.
"Itong San Pedro of course it's in the heart of the city hindi parin standard kasi hindi rin naman pwedeng idonate siguro yong lote don sa pulis," he said.
He was also concerned with the PS in Paquibato located at a critical area and considered to be vulnerable and weak and easy prey for the New People's Army (NPA) present in their area of responsibility.
Dubria added there is an apparent shortage of long firearms as they need 1,034 while they only have 349.
He likewise raised the lack of communication systems that need a technical support although they have the radio sets but he pointed out the need to acquire good repeater systems.
Davao City already reached 1.7 million and under PNP system, there is a ratio that in every one police personnel he covers 500 people and stressed that with that, they lack 1,431 personnel.
"Ito naman Ma'am is suntok sa buwan kasi lahat naman ng pulis naming ay talagang kulang all over the Philippines baka naman because of the recommendation coming from the CPOC madagdagan ang quota ng recruitment for Davao City," he said. JCR
