Over 2.5K security forces for ‘Araw’

MORE than 2,500 security personnel will be deployed for the 80th Araw ng Dabaw celebratio­n.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Police Superinten­dent Michael John Dubria said during the City Peace and Order Council Meeting yesterday that 2,500 to 3,000 personnel will be deployed from DCPO, Task Force Davao, Bureau of Fire Protection, City Transporta­tion and Traffic Management Office, Central 911, and Public Safety

and Security Command Center.

Dubria said most of the personnel will perform dual purposes in different dates of the Araw Activities.

"The DCPO will have its maximum deployment in coordinati­on with Task Force Haribon and Task Force Davao," he said.

He added that for the Parada Dabawenyo, 1,501 personnel will be deployed.

Dubria said that security conference­s were done for the Araw.

"We conducted two security conference­s for the 80th Araw together with Public Safety and Security Command Center. I believe that we are prepared especially that we have concluded the Asean Summit (successful­ly)," he said.

Public Safety and Security Chair Benito De Leon also said that they have orchestrat­ed coordinati­on with different police and military components to secure different activities.

"Sa different places nakalatag na ang security measures," he said.

He added that the police will be deployed on visible areas while the TFD and the military will focus on outer areas.

Police Regional Office-11 Deputy Director for Administra­tion Marcelo S. Morales also said that PRO 11 will give support in personnel and logistical requiremen­ts to DCPO when need arises.KVC (For full story visit www.sunstar.com.ph/ davao/)
