Over 1k Samaleños register for Trabajo

-

Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) – Over a thousand Samaleño job seekers registered for the Training for Better Access on Job Opportunities (Trabajo) program at the Samal Multipurpose Gym on February 20.

The 10.66 million worth of training was funded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the local government to provide a sustainable intervention to improve the plight and condition of the unemployed and empower them through skills training, leading towards gainful employment and entrepreneurial activities. The event was initiated by Peso Samal.

Trabajo program, which is fully supported by TESDA and DOLE, is open to all Samaleños who are looking for a job, especially to the IPs, PWDs, Out-of-School Youth, and 4Ps members.

“It will be easier for job seekers to find a job which matches their capabilities if they are NCII holders”, said Samal PESO Manager Niño Valera.

Trabajo program offers 22 skills trainings, such as SMAW, Bookkeeping, Automotive, and Food Processing among others.

The MOA signing between LGU Samal, headed by Samal Mayor Al David Uy and Vice Mayor Orly Amit, and TESDA-accredited Technical Vocational Institutes (TVIs), which will facilitate the skills training, also took place on the same day.

“I’m so happy that we have this kind of program to give opportunity for all Samaleños to find a job fit [for] their skills, especially the Out-of-School Youth in Samal. This is also the direction of our president - to give opportunity for all,” Uy said.

“This is a good move for Samal for choosing schools from Davao del Norte to implement the project of technical education”, added ACES Polytechnic College Inc. owner Dr. Francisco dela Pena Jr., stressing that schools in DavNor are very competent. Jezza Samal Info
