195 athletes treated for minor injuries
MATI CITY – As of March 22, 2017, the Advanced Medical Post (AMP) of the Davraa 2017 has recorded a total of 195 athletes who have been treated for minor injuries such as sprains, cramps, and heat exhaustion.
Medical Committee Chairperson and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Herminigilda Nartates and her co-chairperson, City Health Officer Ben Hur Catbagan, Jr., who led the preparations of the medical committee, had also come to personally check the patients at the AMP located at Madang Street, Mati City.
Aside from the AMP, which is operating 24 hours a day, the Committee has also a field post located at the Mati Sports Complex and all of the other venues.
Noting dengue cases in Mati City, the Department of Health (DOH) along with the Department of Education (Deped) and AMP had also conducted preventive measures on the billeting venues by spraying insecticides on mosquito nets.
According to Rizza Rivera, they have set three levels in assisting injured athletes depending on the severity of injury. Level one is for those whose injury can be treated by first aid team. The second level is assisted by the Rapid Response Team for athletes whose injuries need professional help. The third level indicates special laboratory examinations like X-rays, ultrasound and other cases that need specialty doctors. If the athlete’s case is life threatening, they’ll send the athlete immediately to the nearest hospital.
