Summer fun within reach

SUMMER is finally here and most, if not all, are already considering a lot of travel destinations to visit. It is just interesting to note that Dabawenyos actually don’t have to go very far away to enjoy islands to highlands adventure because we all have it here right within the borders of the region.

The 4th Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS) will kick off on April 16 and it will run until May 31. VDFs will feature discounted offerings in airfare, accommodations, tours, dining, shopping, beauty and wellness, sports, arts and nightlife, among others for all those who are planning to spend their summer in Davao City.

The Department of Tourism-11 (DOT-11) had previously reported that tourist arrivals in April and May this year is expected to increase by 10 percent since more activities will be held to cater to different kinds of tourists and new destinations will also be highlighted. This summer, a huge number of exciting events is being showcased by the Tourism department ranging from Art Mindanao, DurianMan Triathlon, Ultimate Frisbee Invitational Tournament, national skim boarding competitions, dance and theatre performances, Mt. Apo boulder challenge, Samal Marathon, non-motorized banca “Sail and Speed” competition and a lot more.

Those who love to hit the beach this summer, beach resorts in the Island Garden City of Samal or the famous Dahican beach in Mati City, Davao Oriental will cater to all types of water adventure. If you love highland adventures to smell fresh air, the Davao-Bukidnon (Buda) Highway also had a lot of surprises to offer where one can also enjoy best sunrise and sunset sightings. A little google-ing will do the trick and you’d be surprised at what summer adventure awaits you.
