P2B Panabo-Tagum bypass road drafted
THE drafting of the detailed design is underway for the P2-billion bypass road connecting Panabo and Tagum, an official said.
DPWH Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, in a media conference last Thursday, said that the bypass road construction will commence soon after.
This project is among the big ticket projects in the region aligned with the Davao City Flood mitigation master plan, which has parallel infrastructure projects.
This project is funded by DPWH.
Aside from the bypass road, Sadain said, the construction of railways and expressways in Davao City is also currently being studied.
“The biggest infrastructure projects will be in Davao for the next two years,” Sadain said adding that the infrastructures recommended after the crafting of the Davao River Basin flood mitigation master plan will also be huge.
“This will involve 1700 square kilometers of catchment area for Davao City and for Talomo River that is about 244 square kilometers, and the other small one Pangi Matina River that is 78 square kilometers so if you sum up total catchment area for this one major river basins and two principal rivers these will run up to 2,000 square kilometers of the area to be covered,” Sadain said.
He added that aside from flood control, coastal engineering is also eyed to be done in some areas to avoid storm surges.
