Kean Gabriel Hotline files 5 cases in court

-

Kean Gabriel Hotline has so far filed five cases for child abuse before the court since it was launched last October 28 in Davao City.

Davao City Social Services and Development Office Quick Response Team of Children’s Concern (CSSDO-QRTCC) head Juenalyn Pablo said the five cases include child abuse, physical abuse, and child trafficking.

Pablo said the youngest victim among the five cases filed in court is two- year-old, while the older aged six and seven. She added that these cases are still tried in the court.

Meanwhile, the mother and stepfather of a child victim Kean Gabriel, who died last August 24 after being maltreated by his stepfather, were already convicted.

Pablo said the Kean Gabriel Hotline for child abuse has already interceded and rescued 80 children from November in 2016 to January this year.

The cases consist of cybercrime, bullying, neglect, violence against women and children, child trafficking, child labor, sexual abuse, drug related and harassment.

Children ages six years to twelve years old have recorded the highest number of physical abuse cases, followed by ages zero to five years old, and 13 to 18 years old.

Sixty-six percent of the referring parties of all the cases are concerned citizens, 18 percent from Central 911, 10 percent from government employees, three percent from television stations, and three percent from radio stations.

The hotline is one of the efforts of City Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio to stop child abuse. It can be contacted through 226-444 and 0908-818-4444. ICT
