A welcome development
Deca Homes Mulig breaks ground
DECA Homes Mulig, which held its launching and groundbreaking last March 30, is a welcome development, a Davao City City official said.
Davao City Councilor Victorio Advincula Jr., chairman of the sub-committee on housing and subdivision development for medium-end projects, said: "We are very happy with this investment of DECA Homes. This development is very welcome kay daghan pa ang mga walay balay sa syudad og affordable sad ilang mga balay (There are so many others who have yet to own houses and DECA Homes Mulig offers affordable units)."
He said that Davao City currently has an estimate of 1.6 million population and only a small percentage of that owns houses. The Third District, according to him, is the biggest district with 82 barangays of the 182 barangays in the city.
Advincula, who graced the launching and groundbreaking ceremonies that was ushered in by a Mass, also said that the entry of DECA Homes Mulig is one of the many other projects in the city's Third District, particularly Toril.
"High time na rin na madevelop ang Toril. Hindi mahirap ang tubig dito kasi we have alot of aquifers," the three-term councilor added.
Meanwhile, DECA Homes Mulig, a project of veteran mass housing developer 8990 Housing Development Corporation, is proposed to have a total of 1,894 units - 1,590 single attached and 304 socialized units in its 314,971 squaremeter land area. Saleable area will cover 55.89 percent while 29.47 percent will be allocated for roads and alleys, 10.5 percent for greening area and open spaces for 4.59 percent.
Mary Ann T. Chua, general manager of 8990, said Toril is a good area for the project, saying, "Developed narin ang Toril, may mga malls na, banks and schools narin. Our hopes are high in this new development project."
Assistant general manager Engineer Juliet B. Domingo, for her part, added that Toril already has a community of its own and that she's happy that DECA Homes Mulig is now part of its growing community.
"We really didn't expect so many prospective homebuyers are interested with this project, we did not expect that a good number of them would come during our launching and groundbreaking. Their interest excites us more with this new project," Domingo said.
Offsourcing call agent Janley L. Dela Cruz, who was among those who came during the launching, said he was interested to buy a DECA Homes Mulig unit. Thus, he gave a letter of intent during the event.
"Nakita ko lang po sa Facebook yung about sa launching ng project. Nagkainteres ako kasi mas maganda pong mag-invest nalang ako ng bahay keysa mag-rent, Mas makaka-save pa po ako kasi mas mahal ang rent ko ngayon at magiging akin pa yung bahay," Dela Cruz, a native of Marbel, said.
Januario Jesus Gregorio B. Atencio, meanwhile, said that 8990 remains to its vision to provide modest and affordable housing to Filipinos.
Atencio added, "The housing backlog rises every year even in the city of Davao and we are happy to help address this problem by housing Dabawenyos. We are here to help lives of Filipinos change for the better."
