MOA granting housing units to GK beneficiar­ies inked

ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL – The local government of the Island Garden City of Samal and the Gawad Kalinga Foundation had signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementa­tion of the project granting housing units to beneficiar­ies in the twohectare land in Cogon, Samal.

The Moa signing was conducted during the convocatio­n on Monday at the Samal Multipurpo­se Gym.

The project is based on Section 17 of the Local Government Code of 1991 otherwise known as RA 7160 in consonance with RA 7279 also known as the Urban Developmen­t and Housing Act.

The project primarily entails the implementa­tion of socialized housing projects designed to provide a simple, decent and affordable housing to the poorest of the poor families in Samal Island.

The GK Foundation, in coordinati­on with Samal City Mayor’s Office - Housing Division, is tasked to facilitate the pre – qualificat­ion and identifica­tion of the beneficiar­ies through profiling and validation activities.

Currently, there are already 11 occupants in the site and 20 additional housing units will be built and turned over to qualified recipients.

Gawad Kalinga Provincial Area Director Glicerio Rosario and Project Director Jun Paguia represente­d the GK Foundation during the MOA signing.
